The New Zealand eTA (NZeTA) application fee is a one-time online payment that covers your electronic travel authorisation for up to 2 years of multiple-entry visits. All fees include the New Zealand government's International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) — a mandatory government charge that funds conservation and tourism infrastructure across New Zealand. Australian citizens and permanent residents are exempt from the IVL.

Choose the processing speed that suits your travel timeline. All three plans result in the same approved NZeTA — valid for 2 years, multiple entries, and stays of up to 90 days per visit (up to 6 months for British nationals).

What Does the NZeTA Fee Cover?

The NZeTA application fee covers two components:

  • Service Processing Fee: Covers the online application review and electronic issuance of your NZeTA, linked directly to your passport.
  • International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL): A mandatory New Zealand government charge included in the total fee. The IVL funds conservation initiatives and tourism infrastructure across New Zealand. Australian citizens and permanent residents are exempt.

Which NZeTA Processing Speed Should I Choose?

All three plans result in the same approved NZeTA — only the processing timeframe differs:

  • Regular NZeTA Processing (48–72 hours): Best for travellers planning ahead. Most applications are approved well within this window.
  • Emergency NZeTA Processing (24–48 hours): Suitable if your travel date is within the next few days.
  • Express NZeTA Processing (12–24 hours): For urgent same-day or next-day travel requirements.

We recommend applying at least 72 hours before departure to allow time to resolve any queries should they arise.

How to Pay the NZeTA Fee
